Sandra S. McDaniel, 79, of Wildwood, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 16, 1934, in Waco, to Mattie Mae Moncrief and William P. Sparks.  A resident of Wildwood, Sandra had formerly lived in Port Arthur for forty-nine years.

Sandra’s career field was in television as traffic manager.  She worked at KCEN-TV, Temple/Waco, for two years before coming to Port Arthur in September 1957, to help sign-on at KPAC-TV, now KBTV, Channel 4.  Sandra later worked at KBMT-TV, Channel 12, from 1969-1978.

Sandra and her husband took square dance lessons in 1974 at Hitch Hikers Square Dance Club.  By 1982, they were serving as President of the Golden Triangle Square and Round Dance Association, their district organization.  They also served in the Texas State Federation of Square and Round Dancing as President in 1990-1991.  They both loved the activity and all the new friends they made traveling across Texas at different clubs in the nation dancing.

She was also active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as a lifetime member.  She became a member in 1970 and served the Port Arthur Area Council as President in 1981. Sandra was also an avid bridge player where she made many, many friends.

Sandra is survived by special friends, like a brother of forty years, Ken Parsons and his wife, Ruth, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-three years, I.E. “Mac” McDaniel, whom she was his caregiver for twenty years after he suffered a stroke; sisters, Vivian Mueller, Anita V. Eakin, and Aleen May Eubank; and brothers, William P. Sparks,  Jr. and Leonard Spraks

A committal service for Sandra will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014, at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco. Cremation arrangements are being handled under the direction of Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.
