Nettie G. Stone, 83, of Beaumont, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Beaumont. She was born on March 7, 1931, in Navasota, to Marie Penland and Albert Gayle. Nettie graduated from Navasota High School and later from Lamar University. She taught at Hamshire-Fannett Middle School for thirty-eight years and had been at longtime Longhorn fan for over forty-five years.

She is survived by her son, Robert John Stone, Jr.; daughter, Sheila Stone; grandchildren, Jason Chambliss, Jeremy Chambliss, Jake Stone, Wendi Stone, Doty Smith, Danielle Cline, and Brook Mead; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert John Stone, Sr.; son, Ricky Allan Stone; and infant son, Steven Stone.

A gathering of Mrs. Stone’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery, Navasota.
