Joy D. Stokes, 97, of  Kountze, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Calder Woods, Beaumont.  She was born on February 8, 1917, in Gary, to Ellen Eliza Thornton Daniel and Thomas Bostick Daniel.  Joy was a retired payroll clerk with Atlantic Richfield in Port Neches.

Survivors include her sister, Billie Spinks of Houston; daughter-in-law, Annette Stokes of Honey Island; and grandchildren, Deb and Chuck Turner of Honey Island; Brad Stokes and Kathleen Young of Kountze; Courtney Whipps and her husband, Frank, of Groves; and Matt Turner and his wife Traci, and their daughter, Reese, of Honey Island.

A graveside service for Mrs. Stokes will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Jordan Cemetery in Honey Island, under the direction of Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.
