Jane Raynelle Prater, 82, of Beaumont, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on September 24, 1931, to Lillis Lucille Rogers Galbraith and Robert Wellington Galbraith, in Houston.

Jane was a 1980 graduate of Lamar University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Early in her career she was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Pasadena.

Jane is survived by her husband, Charles Lewis Prater of Beaumont; daughters, Penny Lynn Prater of San Ramon, California and Robin Cathleen Prater Kret of Sour Lake; sister, Ruby J. Riley of Katy; grandchildren, Ehren Andrew Kret, Branden Charles Kret, and Courtney Leigh Kret; three nieces; and one nephew.

A visitation for Mrs. Prater’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at Broussard’s. A graveside service for Mrs. Prater will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Rosewood Memorial Park, 2602 Old Humble Road, Humble.
