Inez Gillespie Ewart Valdes, 87, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Dickinson, Texas. She was born on May 17, 1926, in Texarkana, Texas, and had been a longtime resident of the Beaumont area.        

Inez was an award winning painter that actively supported the local arts community in the Golden Triangle for many years. She also enjoyed participating in Red Hat gatherings, attending St. Anne Catholic Church, and could not pass up a good sale.

Inez is survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Sheila Ewart Moore of Beaumont; Jacqueline Ewart Winter-Hart of Santa Fe, Texas; Lisa Ewart Gonzales and her husband, Domingo, of Dickinson; Ross Ewart and his wife, Carolee, of Nederland; Billy Ewart and his wife, Dina, of Vidor; and Jana Ewart Moore and her husband, John, of Lumberton; sons, Frank Ewart of Broaddus and Robert Ewart of Uvalde; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Ewart; and husband, Roy Valdes, both of Beaumont; and ex-husband, Ross Ewart.

A gathering of Mrs. Valdes’ family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
