Alvin Victor Eckert III, 89, of China, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on December 11, 1924, in Leonville, Louisiana, to Gladys Lisbony Eckert and Alvin Eckert, Jr., and had been a longtime resident of China. Alvin was a United States Army Air Corps veteran. His career extended in the automotive, construction, and general maintenance industries and he was a Mason. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Betty Eckert; son, Alvin “Boogie” Eckert of China; daughter, Vickie Eckert Ladner of Katy; grandchildren, Mondie Eckert McFaddin and her husband, Michael, of Austin; Misti Ladner Simms and her husband, Scott, of Denton; and Kent Ladner and his wife, Jennifer, of Katy; great-grandchildren, Allie McFaddin, Caldwell McFaddin, Jed Simms, Wes Simms, Zack Ladner, and Adam Ladner; sister, Evelyn Mae Eckert Pace of Edmond, Oklahoma. A memorial service for Mr. Eckert will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Binswanger Glass Company, 4195 College Street, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
