Iris King Allen, 65, of Kountze, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston. She was born on November 28, 1948, in Beaumont, to Evelyn Sweeney King and William Leroy King, and was a resident of Kountze for thirty-five years.  Iris was a retired teacher with Kountze Independent School District following twenty years of service.

Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Joe Allen; children, Lori Palmer and her husband, Michael, of Beaumont; Joe Allen, Jr. and his wife, Sherri, of Kountze; and Randy Allen and his wife, Jaime, of Silsbee; and six grandchildren, Zachary Allen, Billy Allen, Luke Allen, Katlin Allen, John Allen, and Sara Allen.

A gathering of Mrs. Allen’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
