William "Billy" Ray Mack

William R. Mack, 68, of Lumberton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. He was born on November 25, 1945, in Beaumont, to Martha and Fulton Mack. Billy served in the United States Army in Frankfurt, Germany, during the Viet Nam War. Upon returning from Germany, he worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Beaumont and retired in 1997. He served faithfully as a deacon at North End Baptist Church for many years and was involved in many aspects of the church. For people who did not know him personally, Billy would be described as Godly, loving, compassionate, caring, and family-oriented. He enjoyed hunting, golf, racing, travel, and theatre. Billy always wore a big smile on his face and greeted everyone as a friend. He was and is loved by so many who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Linda; son, Brian Mack and wife, Lori; son, Erik Mack and Matthew Pozzebon, of New Jersey; grandchildren, Whitney and William Mack; his parents; and sister, Sherry Derrick and husband, Archie, both of Houston; mother-in-law, Bennie Crosby; sister-in-law, Cheryl Boykin and husband Charles; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Ellis. He is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ellis; and his father-in-law, Preston Crosby. Billy was a loving son, brother, husband, father, “Poppy”, brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. A gathering of Mr. Mack’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2014, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery, Colmesneil.
