Norman B. Boone, 75, of Beaumont, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born June 23, 1938, in Jennings, Louisiana, to Geneva Boone Kratzer and Jim Boone. He graduated from Jennings High School where he played football and basketball and enjoyed choir. Norman started working in Beaumont as a barber. He joined the Beaumont Police Department at the age of 21 and became a detective the first year he was eligible. Norman then moved to the Sheriff's department as a captain of narcotics. In 1972, he went into the car business as a salesman and quickly became General Sales manager. Norman later became a partner in the Morgan Boone Ford Dealership in Jasper. He loved to fish, play golf, BBQ, and cook; his seafood gumbo was the best! Norman will be remembered for his generous spirit, his honesty and integrity, his gruff voice, and his love for his family. He leaves his beloved wife of fifty-five years, DeWillia; daughter, Rachel Griffin and her husband, Mark, of Port Neches; granddaughter, Amanda Jenkins and her husband, David, of Lumberton; grandson, Collin Tomberlin and his wife, Maia, of LeMoore, California; and four much loved great-grandchildren, Samantha and Addison Tomberlin and Evan and Graham Jenkins. A gathering of Norman's family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Broussard's. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. Honorary pallbearers will be his lifelong friends, Gary Capo, Carl Morgan, Pinky Reynolds, Bobby Jones, Paul Prince, Bobby Sherrod, and Lee Hancock.
