Antoine Shawkat Abbo, 84, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on July 31, 1929, in Bagdad, Iraq, to Guita Gerro Abbo and Shawkat Abbo, and had been a longtime resident of Beaumont. Antoine was a retired insurance agent with Met Life Insurance.

He loved baseball and enjoyed watching the Houston Astros. Antoine liked going across the river and enjoyed his car. He was a very kind man and always so full of life.

Antoine is survived by his wife, Shirley Abbo; children, Mary Abbo Harris of Beaumont; Joel Abbo of Lumberton; and Terri Abbo Huff and her husband, Wesley, of Beaumont; stepchildren, Jay Andrus of Beaumont and Tammy Andrus Kimmelman and her husband, Neil, of Austin; grandchildren, Dustin Huff and his wife, Emily; Justin Huff and his wife, Kaye Ellen; Austin Huff; Garrett Abbo; Bryan Abbo; Trevor Abbo; Laurie Abbo; Samantha Harris; Daniel Kimmelman; Michael Kimmelman; and Sarah Kimmelman; great-grandchildren, Arion Kimmelman, Jaycee Abbo, Hank Huff, Stella Huff, Jake Huff, and Joseph Hoose; brother, Sabah Abbo; sisters, Hilda Naamo and Gladys Bahoshy; several nieces and nephews; and special nieces, Keili Petterman and Christa Gunn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Celine Abbo and Yvonne Debrahender.

A gathering of Mr. Abbo’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
