Sharon Elizabeth Lumpkin
April 30, 1943 - February 27, 2014

Sharon Lumpkin, 70, of Beaumont, departed this life peacefully at a home on February 27, 2014, hand and hand with her daughter Tracey.  She was born on April 30, 1943, in Kilgore, and spent most of her life in Beaumont. Sharon lived and loved life to the fullest. She was a very giving and caring person.

Sharon was a graduate of Opelousas High School Class of 1961, first Graduating Class with a Degree in Radiology in 1964, St Elizabeth Hospital, Graduate Degree in 1975, Lamar University Majored in Radiology and Applied Science in Beaumont.  Retired from the Bureau of Radiation Control, Texas Department of Health where she inspected radiation equipment. She was on the Emergency Team for the Nuclear Power Plant. Sharon worked for the VA Hospital as Chief Technologist, 1st Director of Radiology Beaumont Medical and Surgical “MASH”. She earned numerous awards and recognitions during her career. Sharon was a NAUI Diving Instructor for over forty-five years.  Her years in Radiology and Scuba Diving brought her enormous amounts of joy and many professional and personal accomplishments.

She loved the people she worked with and enjoyed teaching friends how to scuba dive and taking them on the “Lumpkin Tour’s” where we all had many fun excursions. Where there were many “REMEMBER WHEN’S”. Sharon loved and was passionate about her children, animals, photography, traveling, playing cards, going to the horse track and the casinos, and racing cars with our father at Speedway 90 in the early days. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.  Everywhere she went she would give you that beautiful smile, tell a joke that left you laughing and put a bell necklace around you (that she made herself). She was very outgoing; never met a stranger, life of the party, enjoyed being with her friends and helping others, “Selfless” and “Unconditional Love”.

Sharon will be sincerely missed by her beloved daughters, Tracey Lumpkin of Beaumont and Denise Marshall of Village Mills; granddaughter,  Kristine Marshall; great-grandson, Ayden Troy LeBlanc of Lumberton; sisters, Martha Huval; nephew, Kirk Fontenot of Beaumont; sister, Marcella and Jerry Dupuy of Liberty, Mississippi;  nephew, Jason Caillouet and Sherry Hadskey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; great-nieces, Corey Caillouet, Megan Caillouet, Jasey Ella Moxley, Krista Caillouet, and Lundon Caillouet, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nephew, Andrew;  great-nephew, Gavin Caillouet of Port Allen, Louisiana; and many special friends she loved dearly.

A special thanks to her friends and our neighbors that helped and encouraged her during her battle with cancer. Words cannot express how she and her children greatly appreciated their friendship, time and effort and knowing how much our mom was loved and cared for.
