Tommy Earl Davis
January 5, 1943 - February 27, 2014

Tommy Earl Davis, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at his home in Wildwood Resort City, after a seven year battle with lung cancer.

Tommy was born on January 5, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Tommie Shine Davis and Minta Opal Davis.  As a young child, his family moved to the Doucette area where he developed his deep love of East Texas.  During his early school years the family once again moved back to the Golden Triangle area. Tommy grew up in Groves and graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School.  Upon graduation, Tommy joined the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1965 from the U. S. Army Reserves.

Tommy began his career with Goodrich-Gulf Chemicals, Inc., Port Neches in December 1962, and soon after was given the opportunity to transfer to the start-up crew at Goodrich's new plant in Orange. This location was later sold to Bayer Corporation. After progressing through the ranks, Tommy attained the position of Superintendent-Logistics, and was offered the unique opportunity to be assigned to the S.A.P. Project in Pittsburgh, PA, for a two-year period.  He retired from Bayer in 2001.

Upon retirement, Tommy headed back to the East Texas woods he so loved and built a home in Wildwood.  His happiest years were the ones he spent in Wildwood playing golf on one of the area's finest golf courses. Almost immediately after moving to his beloved community, he became involved in many aspects of the community.  He served as President of the Men's Golf Association for numerous years and helped with the Annual Old Glory Golf Tournament in some capacity each year.  In 2004, he began serving on the WPOA Board of Directors and finished his tenure in 2010, as Chairman of the Board.

Tommy was a devout Christian affiliated with the Wildwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Faithful Hearts Sunday School Class and served on numerous committees of the church.  Since 1966, he was a Master Mason of Port Neches Lodge 1163, and a 32° Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Galveston since 1980.

Tommy's immense pride and joy was his family who he loved without reserve.  He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Davis of Wildwood; son, Tommy Davis, Jr. and wife, Allison, of Boerne; son, Brett Davis of Cypress; Ron Davis and wife, Summer, of Freeport; Donald Davis and wife, Ruby, of Cypress; and daughter, Kathryn Davis Cooke and husband, Chris, of Richmond.  Grandchildren are Justin and Catherine Davis; Corey and Jennifer Davis; Amber and Matthew Bailey; Mallory and Craig Green; Courtney and Rob Quarles; Jeremy Davis; Ryane Davis; Gilbert and Michael Tovar; Cooper, Cole, Cade, Campbell, Kyla, Clayton and Caleb Cooke.  Great-grandchildren are Cali and Cayla Green; Anderson Bailey; Samantha Davis; and Shane Davis.
