Elsie Cornelia Rod, 87, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was born on April 1, 1926, in Ida, Louisiana, and moved to Beaumont in 1965, where she was employed at Ameripol-Synpol until her retirement in 1985. Elsie was an active member of Calder Baptist Church for forty-nine years.

Survivors include her sons, Gerald S. Rod and his wife, Beverly, of Santa Clarita, California; and Dr. Edward F. Rod, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jason and Heather Rod; Jennifer Rod LaBorde and her husband, Brent; Keli Rod Neal and her husband, Lane; and Sara Rod; and great-grandchildren, Laurel LaBorde, Carson LaBorde, and Peyton Neal.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Rod, Sr., her parents; brothers; sisters; and grandsons, Cory Edward Rod, and Tim Rod.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
