Fay Ellen Sands, 62, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, February 23, 2014. She was born October 26, 1951, to Ruth Hubbs and George Wendt, Jr. in Cameron, West Virginia and had been a resident of the Port Arthur area for the last nineteen years. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force and member of First Christian Church of Port Arthur.

Fay is survived by her step-son, Theron Ray Sands and his wife, Pamela Ruth; step-daughter, Donna Wynn Sands, all of Urbana, Illinois; sisters, Donna Elaine Wendt McClellan and her husband, John Paul, of Cameron, West Virginia and Carol Ruth Wendt of McMechen, West Virginia; brothers, George Ronald Wendt and his wife, Donnie, of New Port Richey, Florida and James Edward Wendt and his wife, Debbie, of Cameron West Virginia; grandchildren, Dustin J. King, Amy E. Schmidt, Tabitha R. Sands, Timothy R. Sands, Jonathan E. Sands and Emily J. Sands; great-grandchildren, Abigail M. Schmidt, Valerie A. Schmidt and Owen C. King; and her extended family, The First Christian Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Oliver Ray Sands, Jr.

A gathering of Mrs. Sands’ family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014, at Broussard’s.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m.., Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Biloxi National Cemetery, in Biloxi, Mississippi.
