Aliece M. Monk 
January 8, 1922 - January 26, 2014

Aliece Marie Monk was born January 8, 1922, to the late Henry and Mertie Worthey, and went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Nederland. She was a member of Sabine Tabernacle and will be remembered for her ministry of food coordinator for bereaved families. Aliece was a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She never met a stranger and was loved by many.

 

A native of Rockland, she was the second oldest of six children. She graduated from Colmesneil High School in 1940 where she was crowned Basketball Sweetheart. After graduating from high school, Aliece went on to Business School in Dallas. She worked for a doctor in Beaumont as an assistant and later retired from First Interstate Bank. Aliece met her husband in Jacksonville, Texas, and later married on July 18, 1942, in San Antonio.

 

She is survived by sons, David S. Monk, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann, of Beaumont and Michael D. Monk and his wife, Marie, of Beaumont; daughter, Sabra D. Clinefelter and her husband, Harry of Schulenburg; grandchildren, James Monk, Greg Havard, Trey Benoit, and Ron Benoit, all of Beaumont, and Caitlyn Clinefelter of Houston; great-grandchildren, Reese and Parker Monk, Charlotte, Colleen, and Chloe Benoit,  and brother, F. R. “Dick” Worthey of Beaumont; a host of nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, David S. Monk, Sr.; and grandson, David Monk III.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Monk’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014, at Sabine Tabernacle, 1065 Hazel Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
