Kelly George Hogg, 96, of Cookeville, Tennessee, formerly of Sour Lake, died Sunday, January, 19, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Cookeville, Tennessee. He was born on October 9, 1917, in Beaumont, to Clara Shelander Hogg and Stephen Hogg. Kelly retired from Transcontinental Gas Pipeline in 1983, after thirty years of employment. A resident of Sour Lake for over fifty years, Kelly and Millie moved from Sour Lake to live with their daughter, Susan, in Altus, Oklahoma, in 1992. Kelly moved eight times in sixteen years while accompanying Susan to various duty stations during her Air Force career. Locations included: Oklahoma, Illinois, Alabama, Virginia (twice), Indiana, Rhode Island, and finally Tennessee in 2008 when Susan retired. He particularly enjoyed Newport, Rhode Island with its ocean views. Kelly was a member of Sour Lake Masonic Lodge for over sixty years. He served as Deacon at Grayburg Baptist Church, Grayburg, from the mid-1980’s until his move to Oklahoma. He attended Wilhite Baptist Church in Cookeville, Tennessee. Some of his favorite hobbies were visiting with family and friends, and reading his Bible. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Hogg Cornwell and her husband, Randy, of Nashville, Tennessee and Susan Hogg of Cookeville, Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Elmo Stephen Peddy and his wife, Kay, of Hankamer; Kathleen Davis of Bastrop; Dan Peddy and his wife, Lou, of Baytown; Calvin Capps and his wife, Dee, of San Augustine; Coy Capps and his wife Joyce, of Crosby; Clara Fite and her husband, Russell, of Katy; Cindy Capps of Lufkin; Bob Martin and his wife, Carol, of Lebanon, Tennessee; and Sarah Voss and her husband, Tom, of Columbia, Tennessee; a bounty of great-nieces and nephews; cousins, Ernest Hogg of Kountze and Betty Lou Shelander Chance of Beaumont; and longtime dear friends, Anne and Jim Bryant of Columbia, Tennessee; Barbara Thompson of Brentwood, Tennessee; and Rhetta Ray Bailey of Cookeville, Tennessee. Kelly is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Millie Hogg; siblings, Florence Peddy and Iola Capps; and nephew, David Peddy. A gathering of Mr. Hogg’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Sour Lake.
