Thelma LeBlanc Elmore passed away on January 19, 2014 at the age of 89, in Nederland. She was born March 27, 1924, in Port Arthur, to Noeda Thibodeaux and Simon LeBlanc and raised by her aunt, Axia "Nan" Wiltz and uncle, Percy Wiltz.
Thelma graduated from Port Arthur Business College and was employed by Port Arthur Abstract Company and retired from Carpenters Local in Beaumont, where she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. Her favorite pastime was listening and dancing to Cajun music.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex Elmore; siblings, Simon "Panny" Leblanc, T.J. Leblanc, Verna Stansbury, Anna Lou Nunez, Janette Owens; and great-grandson, Christopher Campbell.
Thelma is survived by her son, Buzz Cessac of Nederland; daughters, Sandy Blankenship and her husband, Mike, of Fannett, Ginger Parker and her husband, Jerry, of Beaumont, Brenda Broussard and her husband Greg, of Jasper; seven grandchildren, Stacy Long, Michael Blankenship, Angela Campbell, Amy Fournier, Justin Broussard, Preston Broussard and Joshua Broussard; five great-grandchildren, sister, Jean LaCour of Lafayette, Louisiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Mrs. Elmore’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
