Shirley Joyce Dingle, 87, of Beaumont, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on June 22, 1926, in Orange, to Mabel Johnson Butler and Robert Franklin Butler, and had resided in Beaumont for the past fifty-five years.
Shirley taught nursing at Baptist Hospital and served as Director of Nursing at several local nursing homes where her compassionate manner was appreciated by all she encountered. She was an accomplished bridge player and superb cook. Shirley enjoyed the many visits from family and holiday gatherings. Her compassion, infinite grace, and tireless patience will be missed by all who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Robert L. Dingle; sons, Robert L. Dingle, Jr. and John W. Dingle; daughter, Margaret Dingle Richardson; grandchildren, Sharon Smith, Charles Rice, Daniel Turner, Kevin Dingle, Kelly Dingle Booth, and Katherine Dingle; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Martin.
A memorial service for Shirley Dingle will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be in the Guild Room following the service. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
