Gladys Lucille Duncan
November 9, 1922 - January 16, 2014

Gladys Lucille Duncan, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the age of 91, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 9, 1922, in Copperas Cove, to Gerhard John Teinert and Wanda Schneider Teinert, and had been a longtime resident of Beaumont after living in Ft. Worth, Washington D.C., Corpus Christi, Fanwood, New Jersey, and Lake Charles, Louisiana, in different times in her life.

Gladys loved the church, her family, football, politics and watching the stock market, and she was always eager to have a good conversation on any of these topics. She was a strong and spirited Texas lady. Gladys married her high school sweetheart, and her primary occupation was always the devoted and steadfast support of her family. She was a great cook, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.  Gladys managed her own business affairs for 36 years after the death of her husband. Her family and friends cherish the love and the legacy she left all of us.

Gladys is survived by her sons, Dr. James Duncan and wife, Norma, of Beaumont and David Duncan and wife, Peggy, of Houston; daughter, Debra Allen and husband, Albert, of Houston; grandchildren, Rachel Odom and husband, David; Lindsey Duncan; Stuart Allen; Katherine Duncan; and Sarah Duncan, all of Houston; Laura Duncan of London, UK; Madeline Duncan of Auburn, Alabama; and Claire Duncan of College Station; and her great-grandchildren, Emmet Odom and Albert Odom, both of Houston. She is also survived by her sisters, Mildred Coffey of San Antonio and Theresa Allen of Tyler; and her brother, Willard Teinert of Friendswood.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dewey Duncan, also originally from Copperas Cove; and siblings, Lillian Stalcup, Elsie Clements, Herbert Teinert, Albert Teinert, Monroe Teinert, and Doris Danner.
