Stephanie Kay Morgan Ellzey 
January 28, 1960 - January 13, 2014

Stephanie Kay Morgan Ellzey, 53, of Sour Lake, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2014. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on January 28, 1960, to Reverend Ray Morgan and Brenda Fisher Morgan. She was a beloved wife and mother.

Stephanie was a graduate of Lamar University with a BS degree in Education. She taught in Hardin-Jefferson ISD for twenty-two years. She was recognized by her peers as one of the best dyslexia teachers in Southeast Texas. She was a Certified Language Therapist and a licensed dyslexia therapist.  Stephanie was the recipient of the Will Noel Award from Neuhaus Education Center and the Reaud Excellence in Education Award. She dedicated her life and used these skills to enhance the lives of her students.

Stephanie was an active member of First Baptist Church of Sour Lake serving as the Minister of Music for 13 years.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-three years, Reverend Ken Ellzey of Sour Lake; daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Ellzey of Houston; son, Lane Eric Ellzey and his fiancé, Heather Nicole Baggett, of Sour Lake; mother, Brenda Fisher Morgan Tell and her husband, William Tell, of Houston; and sister, Donna Randle and her husband, Grady, of Houston, and their children, Garrett and Shelby Randle.

She is preceded in death by her father, Reverend Ray Morgan; brother, Douglas Ray Morgan; and father-in law, Huey Ellzey.

A gathering of Mrs. Ellzey’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Sour Lake, 765 6th Street, Sour Lake.  Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at the church, with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake, under the direction of Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.
