Alvin Ray Stewart, 67, of Winnie, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 8, 1947, in Anahuac, to Agnes Gaspard Stewart and Wesley Stewart. Alvin was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a pipeline inspector in the petroleum industry.

 Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Sissy” Stewart of Winnie; son, Chad Stewart and his wife, Amy, of Winnie; step-son, David Clayton Matlock and his wife, Caitlin, of La Porte; daughter, Kimberly Kellis and her husband, Johnny, of Sweeney; step-daughter, Sheri Hemphill and her husband, David, of Anahuac; brother, James “Buck” Stewart and his wife, Evelyn of Highlands; and grandchildren, Dalton Stewart, Madison Stewart, Jared Matlock, Breanna Matlock, Rhett Hemphill, Addison Hemphill, Johnny Kellis, and Jalyn Kellis.

 Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy Stewart and Herbert Stewart; sisters, Shirley Stewart and Julia Stewart.

A gathering of Mr. Stewart’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
