Mary Ann loved to be with people, and volunteered with many associations.  She and her husband Skip were members of the Couples Club of St. Joseph Church.  Other outside interests and hobbies were knitting, playing cards and dominoes with her friends.

Mary Ann was always involved with her church and being involved gave her the opportunity to show her children how to love Jesus through loving others.  She was the chairperson for the Sacred Heart League for many years, and maintained a prayer list and sent out Mass Intention Cards to the families of the deceased of the Sacred Heart League.  Also, Mary Ann was a Eucharistic Minister and gladly took Holy Communion to the sick or shut-in of the parish.  She assisted when needed in the parish office in counting the weekly collection.  Mary Ann was the recipient of the Benediction of Love Award in 2001.

Young and her husband, James, of Cypress; brother, Joe Chenella, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of College Station; grandchildren, Courtney King of Dallas; Meagan Bernard and her husband, Marcus, of Orange; and Zachary Young of Cypress; and great-granddaughter, Madison Prejean, of Orange..
