Edward Roland Retherford, 92, of Lumberton, died Saturday, November 23, 2013. He was born on December 25, 1920, in Geneva County, Alabama, to Mamie Hutto Retherford and Albert Stanton Retherford. Edward was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a retired welder with SGL Group, The Carbon Company.

Edward is survived by his children, Jo Ann Leavins and her husband, Bill, of Lumberton; Joan Zampini and her husband, Richard, of Port Neches; Edward Junior Retherford and his wife, Marie and Joseph Albert Reatherford of Lumberton; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lavonia Retherford.

A gathering of Mr. Retherford’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
