Thomas Sil Sachitano
January 9, 1948 - November 4, 2013

Thomas Sil Sachitano was born January 9, 1948, to Irene Clarke and Fred Sachitano. A life-long Beaumont resident, Tom attended South Park High School where he played football. After graduating from Lamar College, Tom married Sandra Brumley. Together, they had two children, Lisa and Brian. In the forty-two years Tom and Sandra spent together, they enjoyed many activities as a loving couple.

Tom enjoyed traveling with Sandra and friends to places as close as Houston and as far away as Prince Edward Island in Canada. Tom also spent many entertaining hours with friends and family playing dominoes. After retiring from a successful career as a master electrician at sixty-two years old, Tom became a welcome card player at the local senior center. At this time, he also became active in local BISD politics – often attending board meetings to be an advocate for like-minded voters.

Above all else, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family. Christmas time was always special for Tom and Sandra. He participated in a traditional baking day with her each year by making his infamous “cucidatis” (an Italian fig cookie that he would happily share with everyone). His grandchildren were his pride, though. Noah, Trevor, Austin, Molly, and Emily only knew Papa’s generosity. Tom spoiled those children as often as he could.

Tom passed away quietly and peacefully at MD Anderson on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. He was surrounded and survived by his family, Sandra Sachitano; brothers, Fred and Jimmy Sachitano and sisters-in-law, Sheila and Linda Sachitano; son, Brian Sachitano and daughter-in-law, Lauren Sachitano. Tom’s daughter, Lisa Northcutt, arrived shortly after to say good-bye. Tom is also survived by son-in-law, David Northcutt.

A gathering of Mr. Sachitano’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1115 Orange Street, Beaumont with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
