Gene Anderson, 88, of Port Neches, died Sunday, November 3, 2013. She was born October 5, 1925, to Maggie Bostick and Henry Morgan and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Gene devoted her life to caring for her family, serving others and working in her yard.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Port Neches, where she worked as a greeter, was leader of Slimnastics, helped with the Wednesday night kitchen crew, was an active member of the Celebration Singers and Winsome Sunday School class.

Gene is survived by her son, Randy Anderson and his wife, Judy, of Nederland; daughters, Janie Pryor and her husband, Michael, of New Braunfels and Cindy Brittain and her husband, Rusty, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Andrew Brittain of Port Neches, Angela Wyatt and her husband, Bryson, of Brooklyn, New York and Maggie Pryor of Houston; great grandchild, Ezra Wyatt; and brother, Henry Maurice Morgan of Nederland.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Anderson; and sisters, Daphna Woods, Seawillow Carrell and Melba Hawkins.

A gathering of Mrs. Anderson’s family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., November 6, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
