Jamia Nethel Istre,
85, of Winnie, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of
Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on May 15, 1928, to Clovinia Fontenot
Crauder and Pierre Crauder, in Jennings, Louisiana, and had been a resident of
Winnie since 1931. Jamia enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and cooking. Survivors include her children, James Sumrall; Jerry Sumrall; Ernest Henley and his wife, Nancy; and Jo Ann Hamby and her husband, Lanny, all of Winnie; Clo Jane Little and her husband, Bobbie of Fannett; grandchildren, Lanette Clark; Janette Sattler and her husband, Reggie, Melissa Cormier and her husband, Nathan, Heather Sumrall, Jason Henley and his wife, Rachael, and Brandon Sumrall; great-grandchildren, Tanner LeBlanc, Tye LeBlanc, Courtney Clark, Kade Clark, Cole Cormier, Lane Cormier, Dax Henley, Ace Henley, and Marlee Duhon. A gathering of Mrs.
Istre’s family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday,
November 2, 2013, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. An
additional gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November
3, 2013, at Broussard’s. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday,
November 4, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery,
Winnie.
