Barbara "Bobbie" Cross-Merryman 
August 23, 1929 - October 27, 2013

Barbara “Bobbie” Cross-Merryman, 84, of Beaumont, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on August 23, 1929, in Essex, Missouri, to Portia Parrot Ellis and Charles Ellis, and had been a longtime resident of Beaumont. Bobbie was a retired bookkeeper having worked at Stewart Title and Nichols Home Builders.

 

She will be remembered as a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Beaumont for over sixty years where she served in various ministries. Bobbie was a natural caretaker and enjoyed cooking for others. She loved crossword puzzles, reading, spending time her cat, Olivia, and traveling with family.

 

She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Albert “Al” Merryman of Beaumont; daughter, Nelda Monjure and her husband, Bob, of The Woodlands; son, David Merryman and his wife, Cheryl, of Spring; grandchildren, Erica Marino of Costa Mesa, California; Justin Merryman and his wife, Alyssa, of Houston; and Chris Merryman of San Antonio; brother, W.C. “Bud” Ellis of Pineland; sisters, Patti Kimmel and her husband, Keith and Linda Freudenstein and her husband, Bob, all of Branson, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

A gathering of Bobbie’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
