Thelma “MeMe” Harris, 93, of Nederland, died Thursday, October 24, 2013. She was born July 1, 1920, in Hull to Stella and Ben Stewart. Thelma devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker and loved taking care of others in in general. She also enjoyed traveling all over the world with her husband, quilting and crossword puzzles.

Thelma is survived by her sons, John Harris, Jr. and his wife, Faye, of Zavalla and David Harris and his wife, Patty, of Nederland; grandchildren, Wayne Judalet, Doug Judalet, Shelba Laird and her husband, Pat, Richard Judalet and his wife, Laura, Kim Anderson and her husband, Monty, Lynn Harris, Thad Harris, Sandy Dubose, Brandon Harris and Jacob Harris; nineteen great-grandchildren; and eleven great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Randolph Harris, Sr.; son, Eddie Lynn Harris; granddaughter, Tamela Dawn Watson; one sister; and five brothers.

A gathering of Mrs. Harris’ family and friends will begin at 12:00p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 2:00p.m., Monday, October 28, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 104 North 13th Street, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.  Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Judalet, Thad Harris, Jacob Harris, Trey Dubose, Wade Watson and Charlie Saulter; and Avery Henry, Jamen Stephenson, Miles Watson and Lynn Harris as honorary pallbearers.
