Emelia "Major" Caldronia

Emelia “Major” Caldronia,
age 89, of Beaumont, was reunited with her husband, Tony Caldronia, on Wednesday,
October 23, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
aunt, and great-aunt who will be missed by all who loved her.
Major was born July 24,
1924, in Crowley, Louisiana, daughter of Adonia Leger Meaux and Arther “Jack”
Meaux. She was married to her loving husband, Tony, for sixty-three years
before his death in 2007.
She worked several
associate jobs before acquiring a position at Texas State Optical, where she
remained a loyal employee until retiring in 1989 after twenty years of service.
Major was very active at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beaumont. She served as a Eucharistic minister, was a member
of the Lady Society, and League of The Sacred Heart. She also volunteered and
enjoyed many fundraisers for the church.
Survivors include her three
children: daughter, Diana Primeaux of Houston; son, Vincent Caldronia and his wife, Jerri, of
Melissa; daughter, Adonia Franks and her husband, Albert, of Conroe;
grandchildren, Debbie Strang, Chuck Strang and his wife, Molly; Jenifer
Williams and her husband, Jason; Brian Caldronia and his wife, Bethany; Abigail
Franks; and Tony Franks; step-great-grandson, Christopher Towe; great-grandchildren,
Parker Franks, Adam and Kate Williams; her niece, Sara Jane Graham, whom she
loved like a daughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving dog,Tootsie.
She is preceded in death by
her parents; husband; her brother, Clarence Meaux; and her sister, Mabel Meaux.
A visitation with family
and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at
Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October
26, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1115 Orange Street, with interment to
follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will
be Art Graham, David Graham, Robert Ivey, Michael Meaux, Doug Richter, and Gene
Rogers.
The family would like to
express thanks to Girling Hospice and Summer Place Nursing Home for their
assistance and support in this most trying time.
