James P. Sohlinger 
May 23, 1937 - October 22, 2013

 

James Patrick Sohlinger, 76, of Beaumont, died peacefully at Christus Dubuis Hospital on October 22, surrounded by his wife and children.

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Helen Sohlinger; son, Patrick Sohlinger; daughter, Christine Balentine and her husband, Byron; grandchildren, Hannah and Will Balentine; sister, Bonnie Cokinos; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Mildred Sohlinger; and sister, Nettie Cremona.

 

Monsignor Jack M. Dinkins will conduct a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Broussard’s.

 

A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, James graduated St. Anthony High School and attended Lamar State College of Technology. He was retired after twenty-five years as purchasing director of Gold Crest Electric. He previously worked at Hinote Electric and Graybar Electric.

 

He loved people, especially his family and his lifelong friends from St. Anthony. He took great pride in his work and earned love and respect from everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

 

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and other caregivers who tended him so lovingly during his illness, including those at Baptist Hospital and Christus Dubuis Hospital.
