Beatrice "Bea" Theriot Dorsey 
February 6, 1928 - October 22, 2013

 

Beatrice (Bea) Theriot Dorsey, 85, of Port Neches, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013. She was born February 6, 1928, to Paul and Albertine Delahoussaye.  She was a 1945 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and worked as a tax clerk for the Port Neches Independent School District from 1945-1955. Bea stopped working full-time to care for and raise her three children. In 1956, she began part-time work as a bookkeeper for St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Port Neches and volunteered there for almost ten years. In 1965, Bea, began working for the City of Port Neches, where she remained for twenty-three and a half years. During her tenure there, Bea was appointed Tax Assessor/Collector in 1978, became a state registered assessor/collector in 1984, and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in property and tax administration from Lamar University in 1985. Bea was an active and lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Port Neches. She was involved with several faith related groups including Altar Society, Beaumont Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, was past Diocesan Representative for Catholic Clerical Students, Bereavement Committee, and helped with funding and endowment funding for young men studying for the priesthood within the Beaumont Diocese. In addition to that, Bea belonged to the Texas Association of Assessing, was a member of Hitch Hikers Square dance club, Bells and Beaus dance club and the Red Hat Society. She was a devoted follower of the Port Neches-Groves Indians and Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Bea greatly loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Quebedeaux and her husband, Gary; sons, Chuck Theriot and his wife, Paula and Anthony Theriot and his wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Ashley Heineman and her husband, Casey, Michael Theriot, Amber Bell and her husband, Ian, Derek Quebedeaux, Logan Theriot and Laci Theriot; great-grandchildren, Hadley Grace Heineman, Aiden Clint Bell and Baby Bell; brother, Don Delahoussaye and his wife, Peggy; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Bea is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Charles Edward Theriot (1948–1972) and Joe Dorsey, Sr. (1991–2006); brothers; Jimmy, Paul and John Wallace Delahoussaye; and sister, Joyce Broussard.

A gathering of Mrs. Dorsey’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil to begin at 6:30 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2006 Nall Street, Port Neches, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
