Robert Louis Harris, Sr., 80, of Beaumont, died Saturday, October 19, 2013. He was born on May 21, 1933, in Urbana, Ohio.

Bob was devoted to his family and his church, Trinity United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for forty-one years and participated actively with the Hamaco Sunday School Class.  He loved spending time with his friends, both in his extensive travels and community and social events.  He was a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary Club of Beaumont, Mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center of Jefferson County, and worked as a Certified Life Underwriter District Manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Liz Harris; children, Robert Harris and his wife, Shirley; Cindy Busch and her husband, Chris; and James Harris; and grandchildren, Laura Harris; Greg Busch and his wife, Miriam; Lydia Harris; John Busch; Mark Harris, and Paul Harris.  He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A gathering of Mr. Harris’ family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013, in the McKnight Parlor at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont. His memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
