Sally Bundy
September 16, 1936 - October 18, 2013 |
After living in
Beaumont for many happy years, Sally Bundy died at her home on Friday, October
18, 2013.
Sally was born in
Waco, Texas, on September 16, 1936, to Sarah Dossett Kendall and John Gray
Kendall. Sally was raised for much of her early life in Pottstown, Pennsylvania,
and during the war years she lived with various family members in Texas while
her father served in the United States Navy. She graduated from Waco High
School, attended Sweet Briar College, and graduated from the University of
Texas where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Sally met Howard
Bundy, a dashing lieutenant in the Air Force, during her college years and they
married immediately after her college graduation. After several moves and the birth of their
three children, Sally and Howard settled in Beaumont, a town they were proud to
call home for the rest of their lives.
Sally started
selling real estate in Beaumont in 1977, was an original owner of Re/Max Beaumont,
and continued to be a sales agent and broker there until the time of her death.
Her years working as a realtor brought her enormous joy and much professional
satisfaction. She loved everyone she
worked with, particularly her many customers. She also was very active in the
Beaumont community and her church. Sally
served in leadership positions in the Junior League of Beaumont, the Art Museum
of Southeast Texas where she was co-chairman of the first annual Kaleidoscope,
and the Symphony of Southeast Texas.
Sally was a
long-time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Her involvement there included
many years serving on the Altar Guild, helping with the Chili Supper and
several terms on the vestry with a year as Junior Warden. Sally was also a
long-standing member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Sally
loved traveling and enjoyed seeing many parts of the world. She especially
loved spending time at the family camp in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate
New York in the summer and fall with family and friends.
She is survived
by her daughter, Kendall Menzer and her husband, Eric, and their daughter,
Frances; her son, Benn Bundy and his wife, Dana, and their sons, Gray and Dane;
and her daughter, Jenness Ousley and her husband, Lance, and their children,
Parkes and Evans. She is also survived by her sisters, Drane Haw and Francie
Kendall, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard, and their grandson,
Reid Evans Menzer.
A gathering of
Sally’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday,
October 21, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Her memorial service
will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church,

service.
