Dorothy Brackin, 81, of Thicket, died Monday, October 7, 2013.  She was born on March 4, 1932, in Romayor, to Mamie Carter Roberts and Lee Roberts, and had been a resident of Thicket since 1975.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Laird and her husband, Jessie, and Herbert Brackin, both of Thicket and Audrey Robinson of Batson; sisters, Catherine Sumrall of Votaw and Mary McDanel of Romayor; grandchildren, Chassity DeBerry and her husband, Craig; Stephanie DeBerry and her husband, Kenneth; Jessica Wallace and her husband, Derrick; Eric Brackin and his wife, Amanda; Tara Grimes; and Kandi Robinson; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Brackin; and grandson, Rance Layton Brackin.

A gathering of Mrs. Brackin’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2013, at Broussard’s, with Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating.  Interment will follow at Felps Cemetery, Thicket.
