Ollie Mae Chapman
Phelps, 96, of Beaumont, died Saturday, September 21, 2013. She was born on September 17, 1917, to Armede
Ortego Chapman and Avnant Chapman, in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, and lived
her adult life in Beaumont. She loved
spending time in her garden and cooking for her family and friends.
She is survived by her
daughter, Susan Phelps of Nederland; grandchildren, Trent Phelps and his wife,
Chanda and Jennifer Meaux and her husband, Aaron; and great-grandchildren,
Cade, Robert, Alyssa, Kory, Hayden, Tori and Ava.
She is preceded in
death by her husband, R.Z. Phelps; son, Robert Phelps; and grandson Greg
Phelps. A Rosary for Mrs. Phelps will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow, Monday, September 23, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
