Dan Heinze, 90, of Jasper, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Rose House in Port Arthur.  He was born on March 7, 1923, in Houston, to Jessie Ustick Heinze and Dan Henry Heinze, Sr. and was a resident of the area for over seventy years.  Mr. Heinze enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden.  He will be remembered as an excellent mechanic and fondly known as “Clean Hand Dan” for his cleanliness.  He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 42nd Engineer Construction Battalion in the Aleutian Islands where he developed a passion for flying.  He retired from Stewart and Stevenson as a diesel mechanic after fifteen years of service.

He is survived by his daughters, Pat Ickles and her husband, Dan, of Oak Ridge Grove North and Danell Adams and her husband, Jack F., of Nederland; grandchildren, Ginger Butler and her husband, Sam, of Post; Chris Ickles and his wife, Amber, of Amarillo; Kevin Ickles and his wife, Elizabeth, of Brenham; Dina Bordelon and her husband, Kyle, of Fannett; and Casey J. Adams of Nederland; great-grandchildren, MaKaylee Butler, Corban, Chloe, Olivia, Mattie, Kirsten and Bryce Ickles, Coy Adams, Kylee Bordelon; and brother, Wayne Heinze and his wife, Sue, of Buffalo Gap.

He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Doris Heinze; parents; brothers, Don and Lon Heinze and Edward and James Sumrall.

Mr. Heinze’s graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 101 Block Street, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.
