Arthur "Ray" R. Tamplin 
April 27, 1932 - September 10, 2013

Arthur R. “Ray” Tamplin, 81, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013.  He was born on April 27, 1932, in Shelby County, to Ida Wagstaff Tamplin and Tyne Carroll Tamplin.  Ray retired from Texaco after thirty-seven years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church Lumberton. He was also a member of the Golden Triangle Antique Car Association, the Scottish Rites, and a fifty year member of Nederland Masonic Lodge #1368, A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; children, Connie Furby and her husband, Ken, of Port Neches; Terri Brown and her husband, Lavelle, of Fred; and Mark Tamplin and his wife, Angela, of Buna; eight grandchildren, of which Jody Swango, Jana Lane, Ty Tamplin, and Trent Tamplin were very special to Ray; seventeen great grandchildren; sister, Betty Werner of Sherman; and brothers, Eddie Tamplin and Jessie Tamplin both of Fort Worth, and Bobby Tamplin of Watauga.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

 

A gathering of Mr. Tamplin’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment at 4:00 p.m., at Wimberly Cemetery, Shelbyville.
