SMSgt. Joe H. Byerly 
June 24, 1931 - September 8, 2013

SMSgt. Joe H. Byerly, 82, of Beaumont, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born on June 24, 1931, in Kirbyville, to Pearlie Mae Davis and Elmer Baxter Byerly, Sr. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran during the Korean Conflict having obtained rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Joe retired from Gulf Oil as a Journeyman Machinist. At the time of his death, he was an active member of Grace Bible church and was on the board of directors of Camp Pearl Ministries.

 

Joe is survived by his sons, John C. Byerly and his wife, Susan, of Beaumont and Eddy Byerly and his wife, Rita, of Vidor; daughter, Bonnie Byerly Randel of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sisters, Betty Gallagher of Spring and Rita Northcutt of Pearland; brother, E.B. “Bubba” Byerly, Jr. of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jessica Byerly; Carrie Byerly; Judy Byerly; Angela Brans and her husband, Carl; Joe E. Byerly and his wife, Sharon; Rebekah Broussard and her husband, Jason; Rachel Bearb and her husband, Matt; Joshua Randel and his wife, Clarissa; Caleb Randel; Hannah Randel; and Daniel Randel;  great grandchildren, Gabriel Brans and Hadassah Brans.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Byerly; parents, Pearlie Mae Davis and Elmer Baxter Byerly, Sr.; and sister, Faye Marie Owens. 

 

A gathering of Mr. Byerly’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013, at Broussard’s with interment to follow at Davis Cemetery, Beulah Springs, at approximately 11:00 a.m.
