Stephen Dale Youngblood

Stephen D. Youngblood, 81, formerly of Beaumont, died of natural causes Friday, September 6, 2013, in San Marcos. He was born on May 6, 1932 in Center, Texas, to Cora McKenzie Youngblood and Arthur D. Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood was the first local employee hired by the synthetic rubber facility of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and served the company for thirty-six years. An avid gardener, he obtained the Master Gardener Certification from Texas A&M University after retirement. For seventeen years, he was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troup and Explorer Post 322, which were sponsored by Forest Park Methodist Church. He achieved the highest honor for an adult volunteer in scouting, the Silver Beaver Award. In addition, he was vigil member of Scouting’s Order of the Arrow. He inspired all three of his sons to earn the Eagle Scout Award. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Sandra Youngblood; sons, Michael Youngblood, Mark Youngblood, and Paul Youngblood; daughter, Susan Youngblood; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A gathering of Mr. Youngblood’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside service will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont. |
