Clifford Roy Castle
June 28, 1933 - September 5, 2013

Clifford Castle, 80, of Nederland, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, September 5, 2013, with his wife of sixty years, Wanda, by his side.  He was born on June 28, 1933, in Dante, Virginia, to Artha Kate Hileman Castle and Carnes Neil Castle. Clifford was a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War. He retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad, where he worked as a conductor.

Clifford’s life was one marked by true humility and meekness and he found joy and happiness in sacrifice and service to others.  He was a great example of love and true Christian character to all who knew him and his great goal was to always please his Lord. Selfishness was conspicuously absent from his life and the love of God was the great motivator for all Clifford said or did.  Visitors to his hospital bedside found he was more concerned about them than he was for himself; even in a state of weakness his heart was still reaching out to others.  Clifford was the true embodiment of what it means to possess and portray the fruit of the Holy Spirit—love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.  There are no words to convey how greatly he will be missed by all who loved him!

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Castle; brothers, David Castle and his wife, Charlotte, of Lumberton and Kenneth H. Castle and his wife, Patsy, of Bluntville, Tennessee; sister, Anna Marie McIntosh, and her husband, Charles, of Warren; twenty-five nieces and nephews; fifty-seven great-nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Artha and Carnes Castle; and brother, William Wesley Castle.
