I cannot imagine life without Johnnie. She and my brother Charles have always been a constant in our lives, starting with my being that shy little flower girl in their wedding to Johnnie and Charles coming over for cake and coffee almost every week with RT & me. But to give an example of Johnnie's generosity - I remember my first ever job straight out of high school, when people at work baked cakes to bring to the office, and I was so intimidated and so "undomestic" at the time; but Johnnie came to bat for me and baked one of her famous Rum Cakes that I could take to the office and take credit for. She just did stuff like that, never expecting credit or praise. And what a legacy she has left behind. She and Charles have the most amazing kids ever, and we know her memory will be kept alive through them. RT and I are proud to be a small part of this family and will always be here for you. Our deepest sympathy. Monday, April 8, 2013 |

What a wonderful lady I met in my life 10 years ago. Mrs. Johnnie showed so much love to everybody she met. I loved the conversations we share at the kitchen table or sitting in the living room. It was such a honor to know her. May the family have comfort in all the wonderful memories you shared with her. I love ya'll. Monday, April 8, 2013 |

This morning GOD picked one of his beautiful flowers and took her home with him. I know my wonderful husband, Jerry, is taking her on a tour of heaven. I was so proud of her family and how devoted they were to her. She loved and was proud of them in so many ways. Through this long and painful experience she gave her family a gift of compassion. I will miss you Johnnie and will always love each and everyone of you. Monday, April 8, 2013 |
