Gytha's dedication to making Logon such a special place enriched my years in Beaumont and made for some of my fondest memories. Thanks, Gytha, you will be missed.

From as far back as I can remember, Gytha has occupied a special place in my heart. As a kid she was my favorite Aunt because she was so much fun, always listened, always thoughtful, and always gave me the coolest toys for Christmas and birthdays. After I had grown up and moved off to Austin, it was she that called me to offer a part in opening The Logon Cafe. The 13 years that came after my decision to join Gytha and Ed in their wonderful endeavor were undoubtedly some of the absolute best years I've seen yet.

Spending time with Gytha was always a pleasure. One of her favorite things to do was to listen to music. Many times Gytha and I poured through her record or cd collection, listening to them until the wee hours of the morning. We dreamed about inviting famous musicians to play at The Logon Cafe... names like Shake Russell and Willie Nelson always came up. The Shake Russell Trio later became one of the most popular acts to regularly grace the Logon stage. Those nights, Gytha was clearly in her zone, because Shake was always her favorite. Together, Gytha and I built many cabinets, shelves, desks, for the Logon Cafe... she like to joke that she was my woodworking "helper."

She was always "delightful" to spend time with, regardless of the situation... regardless of how mad she may have been at me at any particular time, she never made me feel unloved.

The pastor at the memorial service asked for us to offer one word descriptions of Gytha. The crowd offered them up for over 5 minutes... all of rang true of Gytha. But now that I think about it, the best one word description for Gytha was her own description of herself, "helper." Gytha was a friend and "helper" to everyone she knew in many different ways.

I look forward to the day when I get to see Gigi again.

Much Love,

Ed & Family,
So sorry to hear of Gytha's passing. She always welcomed us with that big smile whenever we came to The Logon, so warm and friendly. She always made us feel at home. She will be truly missed by all the local musicians and fans at The Logon. You are in our prayers. God bless.

My precious Sister, what can I say? You are so loved, and missed already. I am truly blessed to have had you in my life for your entire life. I couldn't have loved you more. You were my childhood companion and my adult friend, my Sister forever. And I will miss you terribly, until we meet again. Gytha, I know it was our special "inside" joke......But you absolutely were, in truth, DELIGHTFUL.
I love you with all my heart, baby girl. My only comfort is to know you are now with the LORD and have joy unspeakable and full of glory.
Your devoted Sister,
Sherry
