Dr. Douglas N. Mattingly, Jr.
October 24, 1933 - June 1, 2012
Linda Kelley Bridges (Lumberton, TX)

Dr Mattingly was a unique man & dentist. He was always so full of life; always had a joke to tell just as he started to work on my teeth. He kept everyone up to date on his dogs that he loved so much.Never heard this man complain about anything, he was just a great man.I have missed talking to him since he retired, but I know he was enjoying life as only he could. My sympathies to his family,he was a good man.He will be remembered with fond memories.I pray that God will grant you peace & courage in the days to come.Dr. Mattingly will never be forgotten.

So sorry to hear of the loss of this fine man, friend, and my dentist for 30 years. Will miss seeing his smiling face coming into my daughter's restaurant when he came to Beaumont. I am sure he is now surrounded by all the greyhounds in Heaven giving licks on his hand and waiting for a pat on the head. My sincere prayers go out to Linda, her family, and all those dogs waiting for their master to come home.

To the family of Dr. Mattingly- I did not know him long or well but he was a very nice man with a kind heart. I will never forget the day that I came to his home to see his greyhounds. He loved them dearly. Before the day was over he had given me a young greyhound puppy that could not race. I had her for over 8 years and now they are reunited at the "Rainbow Bridge." May your heavy hearts be comforted knowing that he is in a much better place. God bless you all.

To the family--I am so very sorry for your loss, and my love, prayers, and deepest sympathy go out to you at this sad time. I've known Doug since 1966, when I was a 19 year old nursing student and became his dental patient. I so hated when he retired, because I truly believe he was the best dentist in Beaumont!! He was also caring and funny, and it was actually a joy to go in for checkups..! Not too many medical people have that ability to make a person feel so at ease. He will truly be missed by all those whose lives he touched.. RIP Doug.
