James Wilson (The Woodlands, TX)

Our Father Conway L. Wilson
Our father was born June 1st, 1925. He was born at home in Beaumnont TX to Dula and Marvin Wilson. He had 4 siblings. Elray, Jr., Novis and Wanda. At the age of 17 Conway quit high school to join the Army to fight in WWII. He was in the Signal Core. Dad earned his first battle star in England, tracking V1 Buzz Bombs, and directing the RAF to intercept them over the English Channel. Dad fought the Nazi's in France, Belgium and Germany. He participated in the Battle of Brittian, Battle of Normandy, Battle of Metz, Battle of the Bulge and the invasion of Germany. He came home with 4 Bronze Stars. He had the experience of helping libriate a Nazi Consentration Camp. Where they marched the villagers through the camp to see the atrocities. He said the ovens were still burning. Conway was truly a member of the Greatest Generation. To his dying day he called all Germans "Krauts"!
When Conway came home in 1946 he went on a blind date with a young lady from Paris Tenn. They saw each other 5 times and decided it was love. Sara Sue Wright and Conway were married on January 19th 1947 and had 53 great years together. They had 4 children Connie, Leslie, Karen and James.
After returning from WWII Conway worked as a Civil Servent for the Sandia National Labritories, and for Army Missle Command. After retirment from civil service he went to work for Bendix Aerospace durning the Apollo Moon Missions. He was the owner of a print shop until the family decided to move back to TX in 1973. In Beaumont Conway worked at Bartlet Electronics. He kept busy as an active HAM radio operatior. His callsign was W5PWO. He liked to call himself POP WIDE OPEN! It can be said that Conway never knew a stranger, and that he was a family man.
After retirment Conway enjoyed fishing, gardening and bird watching.
In his final years he lived in The Woodlands near family. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and rides around town with his son. He came to love starbucks.
Conway passed in his sleep Saturday April 21st 2012. We will miss Da everyday and he will never be forgotten.

Connie, Leslie & family, Karen & Holly, Kevin & family,
So sad to hear of sweet Uncle Conway's passing. My fondest memory of him from childhood was listening to him talk about "anything". I always thought he was SO smart. I also loved the way he treated mom his "baby sis". My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,
Cousin Linda

Dear Cousins,
I truly wish we could have been at the services. I spent many days after I got the message from Kevin thinking about Conway. I remember his laugh, his amazing intelligence, and that funny green screen you had at your house he sat in front of called a "computer" in the early 80s. God bless the family that is the result of two people's love. I think of my Dad every day and I know you will do the same.

Laurie & Richard Odlozil (The Woodlands, TX)

Mr. Wilson was a hero to us even though we only met a couple of times. But the heritage he left behind shows in the love his son James shows for his wife and family. The day they moved in across the street here in The Woodlands, little did we know we gained new family in our lives. We have watched them grow from a family of three to a rounded out family of four. They FAITHFULLY looked after "Da" and it was obvious how much they all loved him. Jamey.....you are the best.....son, father, husband and please let the fact that you did your best give you comfort. You truly honored your father ....ALL THE WAY TO THE END!
