It’s 2 am; the night is dark and cold. It’s raining and the water on the ground is freezing into sheets with jagged pieces of frozen grass and sticks poking up from the smooth surface. Tony and I are out working our cleaning business and, merely as a by-product of already being out, hunting rabbits. Rather than walk into the dark, wet, field we decided it would be more comfortable to see if we could drive into it and shoot the rabbits by leaning out the windows of the truck. Needless to say, within 50 feet we were hopelessly stuck.
I remember Eddie Britt as a man who could be counted on to come and pull his younger brother and troublesome friend out of the mud on a bitterly cold, wet, night. He was a good friend and a strong and dependable man. I am comforted that he did not need to know pain, just the voice of his savior calling him to heaven Stat.
