My grandfather Herbert Cole was one of Aunt Lorieta's older brother's. I have to say that he very much loved her and talked about her fondly often when he was alive. I remember when my grandfather was very ill all of his siblings spent lots of time visiting him. He had a huge soft spot for Aunt Lorieta. I send my deepest sympathy to your family from mine. I can still picture Lorieta and the group sitting at our kitchen table. They'd go through pots of coffee and discuss everything that was going on in Sour Lake.
One time Lorieta said she couldn't have sugar but she had a piece of cornbread every day. My Aunt said, "Lorieta, they make sugar out of corn." Lorieta said she was still going to have her cornbread.
There was always laughter and coffee. They are all back together now. They better have coffee in heaven. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 |
