Dear Shirley, I just found out about Doug. I am so sorry. I still miss our days at the USO in Orlando. I believe we would all still be there if they hadn't closed the base. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Sincerely, Norma Chrisman

Shirley I was saddened to hear the news of Doug's passing. I am the daughter of Geraldine "Gerrie" Baker Hazlewood and she always spoke so fondly of Doug and his music. I was priviledged to have met him and yourself at one of your mixed lunches. What a fun day that was and a memory I will hold forever. May you seek God, family and your many friends during this sorrowful time and cherish the special memories you have of Doug!

Blessings!

Dear Shirley,

I am very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He was so kind as to play at my birthday party last year and what a treat that was. We so enjoyed his music, a very talented man who was so giving of his time to put a smile on my face and make the day and extra special one. I still have a wonderful video to go back and look at as he was clowning with one of my daughters. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family and will keep you all in our prayers.
Sincerely,

Tami Guidry

Dear Shirley, our area had lost yet another great musician in Doug Dean. We used to talk about theory and he loved to augment and diminish regular chords to put that "Doug Dean" feel to them. He knew his music and would not compromise his music knowledge. He loved playing in the U.S. Navy band, and loved to tell us stories about those days. He was a great musician, a great friend, a great story teller, and Shirly, he loved you so much. He always said he didn't know what he did to deserve you but he was so glad you were his wife, and that you stuck it out with him all those years. Doug stood for what he believed in and he was respected for that. He will be missed by eveyone who ever played with him, disagreed with him about a chord choice, heard him him play and all of us who had the pleasure to know him personally. I think my precious Gil must have been there to welcome Doug and wow what a band they have going in Heaven now. I love you and I will be here for ou every step of the way.
