I have heard many stories over the years of the lives Charles touched and the adventures you had as a family. I hope that the good memories you hold in your hearts bring you comfort in knowing a life well lived.

Just wanted to let you and your family know that my prayers are with you during your time of need. Mr. Thomas was genuinely one of the kindest, most thoughtful men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Back in 1996 and 1997 when he used to come to Sabine County often, he became an invaluable friend to my family and especially my Dad (Carl Foster) during his illness and death. He would visit Dad regularly after my Mother passed away. My Dad would look forward to his next fishing/hunting trip (whatever the case might be). He could always be counted on to cheer Dad up. They would spend hours talking about the school business and the other many things they had in common. I will never forget the year Dad was in the hospital on Thanksgiving Day in Beaumont and I saw Mr. Thomas the day before Thanksgiving and he told me to just plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family (I had small children at the time), and he would take Dad a plate after lunch and sit with him at the hospital so that I would not have to come to Beaumont the next day, and he did just that. He spent all afternoon on Thanksgiving Day at St. Elizabeth's with Dad so that I might have a break and spend it with my family. I could never repay him for such a selfless act of kindness. If the world were full of people like Mr. Thomas, what a different world we would live in!!! Thanks for sharing him with my family.

To family Coach Thomas was an outstanding man. He was a great coach to me and my twin brother. He moved to assistant principal and I got to know him better because I stayed in office quite a bit for not behaving properly. Thanks to his spankings I was able to turn my attitude and life around. It got to the point that everyone i hung out with ended up receiving some spankings from him and yet we all loved him so much. I know yall miss him but I started missing him after graduation in 1961. Dont worry because he in such a good place now and I hope someday I get to see him again.
