My deepest sympathies to the Beard family on their loss. I grew up as a member of the extended scouting family of Troop 322, as often in the Beard house as in my own, and remember Mr. Beard as much as an uncle as a scoutmaster. I honor especially his tenacity in obtaining a degree as an adult and his long career in education. I will always treasure in my heart his life and his positive influence on the young men in it. Mike and Candace, I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Beard, but knowing you, (his son Mike) makes me believe he was an honorable man and a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren. My love and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time. Mary Brooks Saturday, January 1, 2011 |

Mr. Beard is fondly remembered by me as a True Scouter and Scoutmaster. His Troop and His Sons were outstanding. I have many wonderful memories of him up at Summer Camp at Camp Urland. He was a dedicated leader and we all admired him. The Beard Family was a Scouting Family and Scouting was greatly enriched by them all.
