Like B.J. and Jay, I too was a high school classmate of Davids. David was a classy individual, unique and honorable to his “rat pack” friends and had the vocals to project terrific sincerity or humor. He was certainly an independent soul and had a matching personality. Sadly, our group took many different paths after high school and we barely managed to keep up with each other except at TJ reunions. And then, these events were too brief and fleeting. My sincere condolences to the Ryan and Provenzano families. We share in your loss, yet smile at the wonderful memories of a soul that blessed many individuals.

JAY KIRKPATRICK (Killingworth, CT)

Dear Suzanne,

What fond memories we all have of David. He and I were real pals and ran around a lot in our teens. I learned a lot from him about life. Both being Methodists and our mothers' insisting that we go to church each Sunday: We did, but almost always skipped the services and drove around town.

In all the years since then we were remiss in maintaining close contact, but we all did see each other on occasions.

My heart goes out to you at this terrible time in life. We'll all miss him and his humor. He was one of my very best friends.

Sincerely, Jay Kirkpatrick

Jane Mahmoud (Austin, TX)

Suzanne, Jennifer & Cullen:

My heart goes out to you at this saddest of times. I will always remember David as the "calm during the storm" at some of those very exciting soccer games when he did his best to keep Essa's coaching "voice" in check. Essa had a lot of respect for David -- maybe they are up there coaching Ramsey in a heavenly soccer game at this moment!

David and my husband, Harold Baker (who's dad was head of the Chemistry Department at Lamar for many years), must have been at Lamar about the same time. I did not realize that David was from that part of Texas until you moved back there.

May you find some peace knowing that David is at rest in God's heavenly realm. If Cullen is still in Austin, I would love to see or hear from him.

God bless,
Jane Mahmoud
